Traditionally there are certain techniques that are employed by a Flamenco guitarist. The art of playing a Flamenco Guitar, in a Flamenco style, is quite different to the playing of an Acoustic or Classical Guitar. This construction technique, as well as the cutting down of internal structures, leads to the lighter weight of the Flamenco Guitar. An extra boost of sound is achieved by using harder woods for the back and surrounds and thinner, softer woods for the top of the guitar. Flamenco Guitars are built to be a little lighter than a Classical this has a distinct and desired effect on the sound produced by the guitar.Īnother reason for the lighter weight is that Flamenco Guitars are true performance guitars, it's always essential that they are heard above the accompanying noises of other aspects of the dance, such as the footwork and hand claps. The Flamenco Guitar does differ in some ways however. The Flamenco Guitar shares a number of different elements with the traditional Classical Guitar. For the purpose of the traditional Toque the Flamenco Guitar came into being.
